Mineral wool.
To help tighten up a room's sound and make it more soundproof with the specialized Mineral Fiber
(Rock wool) mass sound insulation, specifically designed for acoustical usage. It offers excellent bass trapping, overall absorption, thermal characteristics,
moisture absorption and sound transmission loss (isolation).
The combination of our MLV mass barrier and Mineral Fiber (Rock Wool) board will give you excellent sound absorption.

Pre Construction
as illustrated in the graphic below or to your right, place rockwool between the 2 X 4's
then place the MLV soundproofing mass barrier over the studs, finally placing a layer of sheet
rock as the final layer. STC values lis
ted in illustrations below. One deviation
of this method is; using resilient channel that can be purchased at Home Depot or Auralex as illustrated to the right.
Post Construction you would need to place furring strips double thick 16" on
center, then place 1" Rockwool in-between the furring strips and place
MLV mass barrier over the studs, finally placing a layer of sheet rock as the final
layer.
Rockwool is made of slag, which is a recycled steel product, and rock, a trap rock mined in Texas...those are the only raw materials in rockwool insulation. we use "coke" which is a
recycled material from coal. it is used to make the heat hotter in the manufacturing process, in order to save energy...rockwool is the safest insulation on the market today...it also has one of the best thermal
insulating properties as well as a superior sound control while not supporting mold or mildew, all while not having to add any chemicals...many other insulation products on the market today are either all
chemical, foams, or have chemicals added to them to keep them fire retardant, cellulose...
MLV Barrier is a mass specialty soundproofing product. Mass Damper sheet offers STC
Ratings up to 37 as displayed below. It is a low cost material
used for a variety of marine and land based building room/Home theater soundproofing. The
drawings below shows MLV mass barrier installed
as a suspended mass loaded vinyl. This typical application would improve transmission loss
between adjoining room spaces "Residential, industrial". The combination of the
damping and stiffness properties of MLV barrier gives it excellent performance as a combined layer and
mass damper when applied to partition panels and lightweight structural bulkheads, reducing room transmission of both airborne and structure Borne noise attenuation. Application direct to panels is best done with pre-applied pressure sensitive adhesive (PSA) backed up by minimal fasteners or staples. Ideal product for sound studio
